THE NEW CALIFORNIA TITLE 24 ENERGY RESTRICTIONS
A SIMPLIFIED SUMMARY

Under current Title 24 requirements**, newly installed lighting for commercial office & many other non-residential spaces must not use more than 1.2 watts of electricity per square foot.

Current regulations also suggest a voluntary limit of 1.2 watts per square foot for ambient (overall room lighting), with 0.2 watts of that set aside for task lighting (either built-in or portable).

Under the forthcoming regulations, the current voluntary energy restriction levels will become mandatory, meaning that:

New lighting in commercial open office areas and many other non-residential spaces will be limited to a total of 1.2 watts per square foot, including a mandatory set-aside of 0.2 watts for task lighting – whether you have it or not. This means ambient lighting will not be allowed to use more than 1 watt of electricity per square foot.

The new limits go into effect on October 1, 2005.

RT5: THE REMARKABLE SOULTION

RT5 is a band new recessed lighting system from Lithonia.

RT5 provides up to 33% in energy savings over standard parabolic fixtures1. Installed on typical 8’ by 10’ spacings, you only need an incredibly low 0.7 watts per square foot for ambient lighting! Even with the 0.2 watts the new regulation automatically sets aside for task lighting, you can easily meet the new California energy requirement with RT5!

At today’s (Bay Area) $0.17/ kilowatt-hour energy rate (including demand charges), you’ll save $22.60 per fixture per year with RT5 compared to standard 3-lamp T8 parabolics. Multiply that by 100 fixtures for a 10,000-ft2 space and you’ll save $2,263.00 a year on lighting bills alone!

It’s just the opposite! Lighting quality produced by RT5 is far better than that of building standard parabolic fixtures. You’ll get a brighter looking space and more even distribution of light – at IES recommended levels – in both open office and small (private) office applications.

See for yourself. We’re sure you’ll agree that RT5 fixtures are much better looking than any parabolic 2x2 or 2x4 on the market.

Like any high quality lay-in troffer . . . RT5 is a snap to install! And you can get your RT5’s in a flash – even overnight in many cases.

RT5 is priced comparably to good quality parabolics. Figure in the energy savings and any difference over building standard lighting will be returned in a matter of weeks – or even days!
